Gerasim site failure

Hi all,

the Gerasim project has known a massive failure recently.
Seems to be ok now except for the database with no backup.

So the rankings for the Marathon are now a complete mess for this project.
Any idea how to manage this issue? Should the rankings be cleared or unvalidated for this year?

I can't get into website and boinc can't find it either.

From the stats boards the historic data has been re-added in at least two steps but mine hasn't so far.

I'd hold off any cancellation until we know they have finished doing whatever they can, I'm not on discourse so don't know if there is any discussion there?

Thanks for your message and apologies for the delay in replying.

This has been covered a little on the Sprint sub-section here:

So, until the project resets itself, maybe from a backup the day before, then eventually, I hope the Team and Member FB stats will be return as normal, as the stats started as from 1st Jan 2025, which is a fixed and unchanging "point in time". And the ongoing stats are calculated based on the difference between the latest exported stats and the fixed point.

As such, as long as the project does start to recover AND the missing stats are re-instated, there is no need for any further action on the FB League tables.

So, I'll keep an eye on this and hopefully most or all of the stats will be re-instated and with minimal loss of data.

EDIT: According to BOINCstats, many users now have most of their credits back !

I can see no change of points in FB.

It is quite possible that there might be issues collecting stats from specific project websites and for Gerasim, the current status from the FB server says that no updated stats have been received since 13th August:

BUT other project stats ARE being collected...so this might not be a fault from the FB side, but from the project side.

While it might be a short-term issue now, in the long term it's not, as the League tables are based on the total number of BOINC credits earned as from 1st January until the end of the year...so once the stats start flowing again, it will settle down so no credits will be "lost".
