2026 Team and Member League tables now live

Hi all
Hope you've all had a great Christmas break and you are looking forwards to 2026.
Sebastien has now enabled the creation of the new Team and Member Leagues for FB 2026.
Participating Teams for 2026:
https://www.formulaboinc.org/teams.py?r ... nding=team
Participating Members for 2026:
https://www.formulaboinc.org/users.py?r ... nding=team
Notes:
All Teams and Members will start in League 4 and based on the relative performances that each Team and each Member achieved in 2025, so they will be elevated to a higher league...or they will stay in League 4, (until the mid-season break) IF the relative BOINC credits performance is much lower than other Teams and Members have generated.
As such, please remember that the FB points awarded for the Marathon is adjusted day by day, and it is compared to the initial BOINC credits total (as of 1st January) for each Team and each Member in all BOINC projects that feature in the Marathon.
Hence the FB points awarded in the Marathon are not fixed as they are dependent on the relative totals in *each* respective League.
I hope to have elevated the respective Teams and Members by mid-January - but just remember you will not be losing Marathon points as a result as once all the changes have been made, it is the on-going BOINC credits total that is the deciding factor.
regards
Tim

Hi
It is a work in progress now - I've had a lot of personal tax and business accounts to deal with during January, so my focus in the next few days will be to "populate" the various League Tables, so that before the first Sprint starts, (first weekend of March), then all will be ready.
regards
Tim

Hi all
The "first pass" of the Team allocations for the different Leagues has now been put online here:
https://www.formulaboinc.org/index.py?r ... nding=team
For your information this is how the Team Leagues are currently populated:
League One - 13 teams
AMD Users
BOINC.Italy
BOINC@AUSTRALIA
Czech National Team
Keep The Fire Alive!
L'Alliance Francophone
LITOMYSL Boinc Team Czech Republic
NoTEAM
Planet 3DNow!
Rechenkraft.net
SETI.Germany
SETI.USA
Ukraine
League 2 - 10 teams
Ars Technica
Canada
Crunching@EVGA
Hardware Canucks
Meisterkuehler.de Team
Russia Team
Space Times Info
SWISS National Team
The Final Front Ear
UK BOINC Team
League 3 - 10 teams
Abendgymnasium Neubrandenburg
Asgard
Atlantis
BOINC Synergy
BOINC.BE
CERN
Crystal Dream
Switzerland
Team Switzerland
TSC! Russia
League 4 - 2 teams
H.P.C.N.Swiss
The IT Team
The criteria for allocating the teams is primarily based on the total number of BOINC credits each team earned (on the selected Sprint projects) during 2025, with a secondary criteria regarding how many Sprints each team actually actively participated in.
This means that Teams who earn similar magnitudes of BOINC credits are pitched against each other, in each League - which then creates 3 even "playing fields" to ensure that Teams with less "crunching power" can still earn some FB points and hence gain some small rewards for their competitive efforts.
For 2026, any new teams that register will be entered into League 4, and they may be promoted during the mid-season "summer break" which should occur shortly after the 12th Sprint takes place.
regards
Tim

As with the team Leagues, the allocations are based on the total number of BOINC credits each member earned on Sprint projects during 2025, with a further criteria of how many Sprints they actually took part in.
A further update will take place to allocate Members into League 3, once further criteria is established to separate out those Member who ACTIVELY support many Sprints while those who have earned some BOINC credits in fewer than 10 Sprints will remain in League 4 (as they will be initially considered to be INACTIVE, even if they are already actively crunching projects featured in the Marathon).
League 3 - 23 users

Anyone left in League 4 may not have satisfied all of the subjective criteria (in terms of number of Sprints undertaken, FB points awarded and total credits earned) to be promoted into a higher league. If you wish to "appeal" this, please send me a PM and I will of course look to see if I've made a mistake.
regards
Tim

Well done Tim, that appeared to go smoothly.
Its always interesting to see where people end up position-wise after this process, its hard to predict in advance.

Hi
Thanks for the message.
I actually find it's very much like walking a tightrope - as some allocations are fairly obvious, but there are a few that are "borderline" so I try to give the "benefit of the doubt" in such cases and hence some placements have been made on the assumption that they will do a little better this year which then justifies the decision.
There is only ONE real concern, in that the Leagues only take into account the BOINC credits earned in the Sprints. So some teams/members might be very active on Marathon projects but they are not perhaps as active on the Sprints.
However, as the League tables are based on FB points, the League positions are going to be more dominated by points earned on the 24 Sprints, than perhaps the FB points awarded at the end of the year on each of the 27 Marathon projects (some of which are not fully active).
regards
Tim
FYI: The UBT forum was subjected to a DDOS attack a couple of weeks ago, hence why it is offline. My webhosting provider put a DENY ALL command in the .htaccess file to limit any potential issues with their server farm !

Statistically, your promotion to League 2 will be good for you as your stats from 2025 are the
BEST of all the 2026 League 2 members, based on the
average BOINC credits you earned over *all* 24 Sprints.
Some Members might have scored higher BOINC credits on some Sprints, but that does not give them much higher FB points, as they may not have earned FB points on all of the sprints, whereas you participated in 22 of the 24 Sprints. (You were not active on the 2x Ramanujan Sprints).
So, you should be in the Top 3 if you support the Sprint projects as well as you did last year.
(And those who did better than you in 2025, have been moved up to League 1).
regards
Tim
